So we have bought a new build house .in preston and the development have offered us the opportunity to purchase the flooring so the house when completed is ready to move into...Great move!! We chose our wooden flooring which we were really happy with the carpet we chose was nice but a little disappointed that the choices were from just the one range. I asked the development who were supplying and fitting and was told they were mears carpets, As the cost was going to be over 6000 it was only responsible to look at thier reviews it was a mixture of good and bad. The bad more related to there fitters I wanted more information on the carpets that we were bying and if we could choose from a different range and also to be boosted with confidence and assurances that they were very professional and aim to please, after all 6k in this current climate is a lot of money. I appreciate thier retail shop may not be there contract arm for new builds but it was a good place to start. Get some info on the carpet on thier fittersand also look at other ranges. I took sometime of work to visit as I was told by our very helpful and polite sales advisor at the development the sooner the order is put in the better for time scale reasons. I should add that the whole 6k plus was to be paid upfront in one payment. So I visited the store to my surprise a handful of staff at the front desk 5 possibly 6. After trying to make eye contact but not succeeding I had a little look at some of thier carpets then approached the desk not one person was interested all most 3min before one lady looked at me from a sitting position about 10feet away she mumbled something I tried to ask for help without shouting as thst would be rude she took almost 15 seconds to decide before forcing herself up from her chair and approached me no smile no passion. I decided to start with enquiring about the carpet that we had chosen at the development , "we don't display this carpet anymore " No explanation why, is it discontinued is it out of fashion is it out of stock . A little confused I informed her that we had bought a new build house and the development were given you our custom and that the range of carpet in question was the only range to choose from , and that I was here to decide weather we wanted to give our custom . You would think that would have spurred her to be more professional absolutely not " we are retail we have nothing to do with the contract arm" " if you don't like the carpet range have a look through the shop take a note and talk to your builder " that was it she went back and sat down. No contact details for anyone no pointing to even the right direction and not a single person from the 4 or 5 others present took any notice. Suffice to say we will thank God not be placing an order with you our hard earned cash will be better spent elsewhere.
