The entrance to the ladies showers and toilets was not a welcome sight, we had to walk through smelly water that had flooded the floor, this was a daily occurrence even though the handy man on site did his best to sweep it down the drain every morning. The men's toilets and showers were dirty with hair from the previous day, floors were constantly dirty, the disabled toilet was a disgrace, bin not emptied at all during our stay, hand rail covered in poo for the duration of our stay. We have stayed on many campsites since Covid and have felt very safe due to the cleanliness of areas and hygiene products left in showers and toilets for guests to clean before or after use during their stay. At Widemouth the only item left to clean with and leave the area in "tip top condition" ( as stated on the poster on display in the toilets) was a blade mop, which was not adequate for the job. We have also read response to their reviews about dirty showers and toilets that even though they are cleaned daily this is caused by heavy use during peak season. For the duration of our stay the campsite wasn't even half full.
We had read on other reviews that the showers were far too hot and we found this to be the case, even though other reviews have stated the same problem and response from Widemouth has been that the temperature is being monitored. Monitoring doesn't seem to result in the temperature being lowered. Our grandchildren were unable to be showered and had to be washed using the sinks. Walking past one of the locked rooms, which had been left ajar one day my wife saw a family room with a bath inside, this would be perfect to use for the children with families able to control the temperature of the water but this room was not available to use.
The washing up area was also very dirty and even though it was supposed to be cleaned daily, the same waste food was in the sink and stains on the bin which wasn't emptied for the duration of our stay.

Upon arrival there was no one to meet and greet. We were traveling with other family members and the pitches we were both given were wrong and far apart. We tried to contact the manager/supervisor with no luck so we took it upon ourselves to swap pitches.
The next day a family member told him about the situation and he put the blame on pitch up.
The Pitches
All the electrical tent pitches are all old hard standing for statics. Spacious, but be prepared for a hard time pegging your tent down.
There is a site next door to the "camping area" that is under construction so we had constant noise. Not anyone's fault, but prior warning should be given so that you are not disappointed when you are expecting to relax in the "peaceful" Cornish countryside.
Toilets/Showers
The ladies toilets were completely flooded and stunk of sewage.
Even after someone went into "clean" there was still dirt all over the floors and nothing for us to actually clean up after ourselves.
Men's toilets were not cleaned every day and had a bin over flowing. Even after I saw the manager/supervisor and now apparently cleaner leave the toilet/showers they had not been cleaned properly. Floors were still covered in dirt, toilets had cleaner put in them but had not been scrubbed, sinks were dirty, full of hair (not just head hair) and the bin was overflowing still. Mirrors were clean though.
Showers in men's and ladies were scorching hot to the point that we could not shower our young children it would have scolded them. When the "manger/supervisor" was confronted about this issue he said "everybody loves a hot shower".
No family shower rooms as advertised.
Washing up area
The washing up area was constantly dirty with food left in sinks, bin over flowing covered in food and windows dirty.
Shop
No shop on site as advertised, If you need supplies you will need to drive.
WiFi
No WiFi on site as advertised, it is available in the reception but good luck getting the password.
Safety concerns
A low wooden post and rails separate either side of the field which is used to supply electric to pitches. This had large screws protruding from it which made it dangerous to any young child.
There is little to no lighting around the site at night.
Smoke alarm in the ladies toilets constantly beeping
Very large speed humps around the site. Many cars were bottoming out on them.
Confusion
Union Jack upside down and flying at half mast at the entrance to the site.
Everyone I spoke to who had interactions with the site manager/supervisor all said the same, he was arrogant to the point of being rude and always put the blame on the previous site owners or on pitch up
