A very strange experience. Broadgrove is situated at the end of a very long private road/track which is not picturesque. Instead, it is dominated by disused quarries, the remains of derelict buildings, danger KEEP OUT signs, overhead power cables and an electricity sub station. The house is not unattractive and clearly has some history. The gardens are unremarkable and the views are almost non-existent. Inside, the drawing room and dining room are well furnished and comfortable. The bedrooms, on the other hand, are dated Breakfasts were good and nicely served. However, the real downside to Broadgrove is the owner, who although well meaning, is brusque and unwelcoming. From the moment we arrived, we felt uncomfortable and spent our entire stay walking on eggshells. Despite the breakfasts and some parts of the house, this was not a pleasant experience and it is certainly not something we would wish to repeat.
