This firm advertise in a local circular. I needed a quote for domestic bathroom refurbishment and sent them an email request. No reply after 10 days, chased up with a second email which produced a phone reply and home visit from the proprietor nearly 2 weeks after that. At his request my wife and I visited his trade supplier to research retail prices of the specific product we knew we wanted ( shouldnt he do that?). Now a month after the home visit and after more chasing I have yet to receive the promised quote . Excuses of staff sickness and holiday were forthcoming but only after being chased up. Communication extremely poor. Suffice to say I will not be using this business.

These cowboys were instructed to undertake a boiler service and gas safety check by the elderly purchaser of my apartment. They turned up at the estate agents requesting access without any prior appointment or telephone contact whatsoever. Totally unprofessional! We were away from home for the day but I allowed the agent to allow access to carry out the job knowing there would not be any problems as I have had the boiler serviced and a gas safety check carried out every year for the past 10 years or so that I have lived in the apartment. You can imagine my surprise when I heard that they had turned off my Gas supply and placed Danger Do Not Use sticker on the boiler and issued a Gas Warning Notice. The reason given was that they could not get good enough access to the gas meter to carry out a Tightness Test and that the flue gas analysis was outside the manufacturers specifications. Note that Thursday, the day he attended, was the hottest day of the year and on record. I understand that this could have caused a higher than normal reading of the CO2% readings in the flue gas? The manufacturers checking values for CO2% is 8.8% for both the HIGH & LOW with +/- 0.3% tolerance, this would give any reading between 9.1% & 8.5% as being acceptable. The high burn CO2 reading was just 0.04% above the manufactures specifications. The CO output is well below maximum advised level of 350ppm (his reading =15-81ppm) and the CO/CO2 Ratio was also well below the maximum 0.004 (his reading = 0.0002 0.0009). MJM plumbing and Heating used very little common sense in the action they took in issuing an immediate danger notice. There was no evidence of any form of gas escape and the fact that he did not carry out the Tightness Test was not a legitimate reason to turn off our gas supply and issue a Danger Do Not Use notice especially when the property owner / occupier was not present. A most it only warranted an At Risk notice until a proper Tightness Test was undertaken. Following this visit I arranged for another firm of Gas Engineers to call and carry out the necessary tests. They had no problem carrying out the Tightness Test and their Testo meter showed that the output gasses were well within the required specifications and they issued a Gas Safety Certificate. I took photographic evidence of both the Tightness Test & the flue gas tests showing the Testo meter readings. The only conclusion I can come to was that MJM was looking forward to undertaking unnecessary remedial work and installing a new boiler.

My mother has waited 3 weeks to have her heating fixed. Her landlord used MJM plumbing and heating. They informed her landlord that they had given her 2 weeks notice of the hours they would attend, which was incorrect. When she tried to make arrangements to accommodate the hours they needed to complete the work she saw them packing up the van ready to leave. They told her it was too late and they had made other arrangements. With that they left! I called to make a complaint and was told there was no point, and when I said I was going to leave a bad review was threatened with court action! AVOID these people.
