Going on holiday to the Lakes and staying at the Mount feels like going to my absolute happy place. For a precious few days I can forget about the world and hand myself over to the kindest and most thoughtful hosts imaginable. I've been before and I'll go again - the little shepherd's hut in the beautifully tended garden is friendly, quaint and comfy. No detail is left undone - the bed is comfortable, the little kilner jar of homemade cookies is a delight and the hut is clean and well equipped. There is nothing more pleasurable than sitting with the door half ajar with a glass of wine watching the sun set over Skiddaw and making friends with the pheasant who seemed to strut around pretending to own the place. My breakfast avocado eggs with oven tasted tomatoes in the main house felt indulgent and luxurious and it was lovely to hear more from Clive and Caroline and my fellow guests. It was over breakfast chat I learned about the so-called Buttermere infinity pools, which proved just as magical as Caroline promised. I'd say it felt like home from home, but that would be a lie. Because if my home was like this, I'd never need to go on holiday! The Mount is the very epitome of what a holiday in the Lakes should be and for a few precious days, I felt like the only thing that mattered were me and the mountains calling my name.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Mount and will be recommending it to all our friends! It is a beautiful house situated in a very convenient location. Caroline and Clive are truly excellent hosts with nothing too much trouble. The homemade bread, cakes biscuits and jam add to the homely experience and the freshly cooked breakfast is superb. Even Piper(our springer) had a sausage for breakfast.

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at The Mount, Clive and Caroline are a great couple who are a pleasure to meet and very easy to talk to, they are also terrific hosts where nothing is too much trouble. Room was comfortable, nicely furnished and quiet with a good bathroom having quality toiletries. Excellent breakfast every day with vast choice and quality produce, an amazing selection of jams, marmalade and honey and we were lucky to be able to have breakfast each day in the garden. Location is perfect for Cats Bells, Derwent water walks and access to Keswick, a nice quiet location just a short walk into Keswick for dinners, pubs and shops. The Mount will definitely be our choice for many stays in The Lakes . Thank you Clive and Caroline, looking forward to seeing you again soon Ian and Jane
