The boat house is different from usual coastal gift shops in a lot of ways. They sell more higher end products, designed by actual artists rather than the generic mugs and t-shirts in most other places, which I'm not dissing, just pointing out the difference. The clothing is very high quality and the selection of nautical items is vast. The owner is a very nice bloke, happy to chat and take a photo. He must get a lot of people asking for photos and autographs being quite famous! If you are looking for a quality item as a souvenir or gift for a friend this place has it all. I've included a photo I took recently with the owner having a sing song on the Platt. This was on my birthday so it made my day.

I bought today in this shop 2 seasalt jute bags (orange colour with fisherman drawing). I thought they looked lovely so went straight to pay for them and didnt realise of the terrible smell they release. The car stank because of them. I tried to wash them both as soon as I got home but they still smell like mould. I dont know if its the ink used or they werent stored property by this shop. Either way it was 8 wasted for something that cant even be used.. shame for this shop to sell these bags to customers without even warning of the smell they have...

A real gem! Wonderful range of tasteful goodies- something for all pockets. Great friendly service too. Picked up Fishermen's Friends CD of filmscore. Amazing mix of tracks, not all pure shanties. Has rapidly become my favourite and cannot recommend this and the shop highly enough.
