The Mariner's Lodge is a lovely family home in a great situation in West Porlock overlooking Porlock Bay and the views are amazing. Caroline and Rollo are fantastic hosts and do their very best to ensure their guests get the best out of their stay. I was very keen to have some of the Porlock Weir oysters and Caroline arranged for me to pick some up from Cindy at Porlock Bay Oysters complete with all the trimmings and I enjoyed these sitting in the garden watching the house martins flying about. Caroline has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the area and was able to give me some excellent advice for my cycling route the next day. My room was very well furnished and had a great view as well. I was woken from my very comfortable night's sleep by the sun peeping through the curtains and the sheep baa-ing in the field below. Breakfast was ready at the appointed time, having chosen my selection the night before, and it was an extremely generous plate of food that set me up very well for the day and the steep ride out of Porlock on the Worthy Toll Road. Family-run independent B&Bs like this one are a joy to stay at and I was glad I made the effort to seek this one out and spend a great night in a lovely location. Porlock Weir with the Ship Inn and the Porlock Weir Hotel are close at hand and walkable from the Mariner's Lodge.

Caroline is a very attentive, kind and warm host. She made us feel at home, gave us great tipps and stories about the surrounding area and is an AMAZING cook. We were walking down the South-West Coast Path and stayed here our first night. We couldn't have chosen a better start to our journey. The view was fantastic and everything very clean and personalized. We can only recommend staying here. Thank you for everything, Caroline.
