I dont have any bad words to say about this school. Absolutely brilliant. My son had been going to a different school before moving to this one in November 2017, where he had started year 3. When my son was at his old school for 4yrs, he had not achieved anything or got anywhere with his lessons, he was never confident to do things on his own and was always needing help. I just assumed that my son just found it difficult on his own fullstop. 2 weeks after starting Poringland school, his teacher had pulled me into her classroom to discuss my sons work. She wanted to pull me up on the fact that accidentally my son had been taking in work from his old school. She apologised for looking but went on to tell me that her concern was that his old school had been clearly giving my son the wrong kind of work for his age. The work they were expecting off my son was either passed his age group or too advanced that even her oldest students hadnt even started. The reading books they were giving him were 1-2years below his age, even though I already knew this as I had brought this up with his old school about the reading books being too easy for him, they had always explained that until he started achieving in school they would not give him higher reading books. This is how amazed I am with this school.... my son was at his old school for 4yrs and always remained in the lowest achievement, never getting anywhere in anything he did. This was frustrating but also upsetting that my son was strugglerling with his work. However, I received my sons report for year 3 a few days ago, and WOW! His achievements has improved MASSIVELY! His headteacher and his class teacher have both told me they had noticed great improvements in his class, he is so much more confident when working on his own unlike before. I could not thank this school enough for the hard work they have put into helping my son improve. Something I was really worried they would find it hard to do considering he was so uncomfortable with any work he was usually given. Thank you so much, my son is so much happier with his work and school. He loves attending school a lot more and he is always praising his school teacher.
