It's the best patisserie in Poole imho. Well earned reputation for excellent food, sandwiches and coffee.

I drove here specifically after all the fantastic reviews online, and I'm a little mixed after the experience. I bought 3 pastries and 2 coffees which were really good, but the service was rather disturbing. But the Asian gentlemen who spoke to his colleagues in a non comprehensible way behind the counter, commented on what I ordered (custard slice) and laughed while looking at me. It left a level of unwillingness to come back.

Popped in for coffee and cake yesterday with 4 girlfriends. No table service and nowhere to stand at the front to order, very cramped. 5 staff working but tables were stacked with used coffee cups and plates. One customer decided to sit with their chair as far back as they could blocking the only thoroughfare to the tables at the back. Cakes and coffees came one at a time with a 5 minute delay between each. After 2 drinks another cake arrived and we were asked if we were waiting for anything else. We were still waiting for a coffee and 2 teas plus 2 more cakes. 2 of us had finished our coffees before the rest had arrived. Fine if you want takeaway but wont be eating in again when there is South Deep and Rockets and Rascals both within walking distance. Agree with another poster. Buy and exit, eat elsewhere especially if busy.

I love going to Mark Bennett especially the Penn Hill location because of the customer service. I love the sandwiches and the cakes they have to offer but every time I go to the Lilliput store, the customer service is appalling. The first thing I want to be greeted with is a smile, not a dirty look or a stare, its a real shame because I love going there. As someone who has worked in this industry I would genuinely be embarrassed. Customer service training seriously needs to be provided.
