As a family we found it very difficult to come to terms with our father no longer being safe in his home, and due to family circumstances reluctantly we had no other option for him other than a care home. We were so extremely fortunate in finding The Lindsay and it has surpassed all our expectations at how well dad has transitioned moving there, so much so that he very much happily considers it his home now. This successful transition has been totally due to the many kindnesses shown him (and us ) by all of the compassionate and conscientious staff who work there, and we as a family are so very grateful to them all in giving our dad back a quality of life which previously he had sadly been missing so much.

Lovely care home, especially for residents with dementia. All of the staff are very friendly and caring. Facilities and activities are good and there is also a small outdoor garden too. Dad loves the food, he also says all the staff are very nice.

My stepdaughter Denise Wretham has asked me to write on her behalf as her sight has deteriorated since the summer. She was brought down to see her father from Clacton on sea as it was clear his condition was deteriorating and she arrived at lunchtime, having left at 0800 unable to eat through anxiety. She was welcomed, persuaded to eat a small meal and have a hot drink, before she was shown the room she was to use overnight to be near her father. Denise spent all afternoon by his bedside and was later joined by her cousin for a quiet chat and some supper. A short while later her father died, and I returned just too late for a last goodbye. All the staff treated Denise with such kindness and warmth, and Claudia said she was to ring her any time if she needed to talk. Denise could not believe such loving care and kindness would be shown to relatives as well as residents. She asked me to let you know that you made life good for her 'Popsicle ' and helped her through a time of great sorrow. On behalf of Denise Wretham daughter of Harry Wretham.

My husband spent the last 10 months of his life being cared for and loved by all the staff at The Lindsay from the housekeeping team to the Manager. He was contented that he was in the best place since I was no longer able to care for him adequately. When he died I was wrapped in the warm and caring atmosphere of the staff who were now my friends and it was so comforting to know I had a friendly ear to help me through. The Lindsay is an exceptional care home.
