We got Mike in to fit a bathroom ceiling fan, wire in a new light, and sign everything off with the relevant certificates (a Minor Works cert, and a Part P cert). I now find myself in a situation where I am out of pocket and still dont have what I need. Mike came round and quoted for the works, agreeing on a fee of approx. 700.00 to complete the installation and certification. On the day all works were completed by 1pm and everything appeared in good order. As he was leaving I asked if he could remember to send through the relevant certificates and he agreed it would be no problem. I then promptly paid but I didnt receive the certificates. After chasing, he informed me that I didnt have the RCD unit necessary to sign the works off and that more work would be required to get the certificates - this is the beginning of the issue. Granted, he may not have known that I didn't have the required works done to sign it off when he initially started the job, although I would have expected him to check when he quoted, but he absolutely would have known this by the time he was leaving, and not only failed to inform me but said that he would send the certificates through knowing full well it wasn't possible. To date Mike will still not provide a Minor Works Cert for the work he has already carried out and something that was initially agreed upon - let alone providing the Part P cert which isn't even a possibility without further works. My two main complaints and things that should make others think twice are 1) he knew full well before leaving the job that he would not be able to provide the necessary certification (Part P) and not only failed to mention it, but stated that he would send them through knowing that it was not possible 2) following this, he still has not sent through the minor works certificate for the works he has already undertaken, essentially washing his hands of it.
