Caveat emptor! We moved our caravan to this site a few weeks ago as we moved from Normanton to Doncaster and on first view, this site was more convenient to us. We had been at our last site for 6 years, without any issue at all. Today (23rd April), whilst in Wales and due back tomorrow (24th April), we were literally told, via TXT message, without notice & completely unwarranted, that we were being removed from the site. This morning, I sent a message to Stephanie at the storage compound to say that we would be back between 1-3PM and we would let them know more of a rough ETA when we were nearer Yorkshire. She replied with a "Thumbs Up". I thought that was that until I had a TXT just over 2 hours later, that said "Hi sorry to trouble you but just wondered if you had an ETA Many thanks Mayfield storage "... Obviously I was a bit surprised as I had already messaged so I replied "Already sent a TXT this morning and had a thumbs up reply......" and then "Please read above. Thanks " as per my image attached to this review. I then received the following message.. "Hi yes sorry I know but you have us a 2 hour window and wondered if u knew now roughly the time !!!!" I thought I would call her as she's obviously missing the point where I stated that we would let them know more of a rough ETA when we were nearer Yorkshire. She cut me off talking and accused me of talking down to her and hung up on me. I was absolutely gobsmacked. I rang back, she cut me off. I then had another message that said "I will not be spoken down to like a child We have never had this before and refuse to listen to it we run a very happy very customer confirming storage Mayfield storage " I replied: "And I will not be spoken over and hung up on. I simply asked if you had read the entire message above as I had sent the following this morning: "Good morning. We plan to be back between 1-3 tomorrow subject to no journey disruptions. We can let you know more of a precise time if needed when we're closer to Yorkshire. Thanks, Ade" I had stated that I will let you know more of a precise time as we near Yorkshire. We're travelling 260 miles and we cannot anticipate traffic / accidents etc so giving less than a 2 hour window today is not practical. " Then I received the eviction message: "I had read the messages and did not ask anything that was untoward Plz take this as notice from us with immediate effect ( as in contract we can do ) and we will send you a refund Mayfield storage" We seriously couldn't believe what had just happened in the last 10 minutes. Luckily, as we had reservations about this storage site anyway so had not yet surrendered our last site whilst we were deciding whether to keep it at Mayfield or not, so we are now extremely happy to return there, where we have been for 6 years, hassle free, even though, it is not as convenient location wise for us. Stephanie today showed a blatant disregard for us being 260 miles away, due back the following day and not appreciating that traffic can vary and ETA's can change. Without notice, terminated our storage via TXT without any care or consideration as to whether we might be stuck with nowhere to place our caravan upon return to Yorkshire. I would suggest only using this site if you have a back up arrangement for storage should anyone find themselves in this same situation as we have today, and falling foul of Stephanie. In summary, our experience of this site is whilst we fully respect the site owners request for notice for van collection and return times, we felt that Stephanie wants to exert more control over her customers than is necessary - almost like she was carrying out a favour when allowing us access to our caravan... As fellow caravaners will appreciate, sometimes plans might change, you might fancy a late checkout on departure day or a delay might happen on the journey home meaning you might not always be back at the previously advised time, meaning this will lead to texts from Stephanie demanding to know where you are.
