Since my previous GP practice of 42 years standing closed in the autumn of 2022 I transferred to Wideway Medical Practice... not without a little trepidation! As it happened, this has been the best thing which could have possibly happened as every contact with the practice has been positive... I have found all of the receptionists to be polite, concerned and helpful whilst dealing with endless phone calls and patients. All of the doctors I have had contact with have been concerned, interested and helpful. At 82 years of age, with a 23 year history of chronic arthritis, three joint replacements and unfortunatly due to an unexpected fall in February this year, having sustained an extremely painful pelvic fracture; discharged home from St. Georges, my care was thankfully subsequently taken over by Ms Elaine Ferguson, Advanced Treatment Nurse, and the help I have received thereafter has been second to none. I cannot thank everyone at the practice enough for the valuable work you do... you have been my lifesavers.

Ive just recently joined this GP practice and have to say the receptionists are absolutely rude, Ive been twice and both times the receptionists seem to have attitude. The receptionists was extremely dismissive, when I asked her to print out my test form that the GP had sent to her, she was very annoyed and said that the GP should have printed it out and that it was time for her to go on her break. As a receptionist your the front face of the practice and should be professional when dealing with patients who are already stressed about their health concerns. It doesnt cost anything to be nice.

Edit: In the interests of fairness, I have to say I was impressed I received a reply within minutes and was contacted by Dawn, practice manager the next day. I felt she understood my frustrations and I feel confident that my comments will be used to make improvements. Thank you Dawn. I really didnt want to leave a negative review but here I am. First impression when joining was good as the registration process was super fast. I then went in person to make an appt. The receptionist was grumpy and disappeared mid conversation to answer her mobile phone before coming back. She was then annoyed with me for not knowing if I needed an asthma check or an asthma review. When I asked her what the difference was, she sucked her teeth and told me I should know. She was also unable to make me an appt and I had to wait for a phone call a few days later to do this. I think it was Yolanda who called me - she was very polite and efficient. Its been impossible to make any appts since via telephone so Ive given up. I then put in a request for my asthma meds last week to be sent to the pharmacist. When I went to collect it, the pharmacist told me it hadnt been ordered so I contacted the practice via the website. A practice pharmacist called me this evening to review my medication. She said someone should have contacted me about why my inhaler had not been prescribed as they needed to check some things - but this didnt happen. She was clearly getting annoyed with me when I questioned how she had come to the incorrect ACT score and for asking why no one had contacted me if there was an issue with my meds. All she kept saying was I had to contact the practice manager via email but she couldnt give me an email address as she didnt work for the practice so didnt know it. She was very keen to repeat that she didnt work for the practice. When she asked me if I had suicidal thoughts in a very singsong, lets get through the list of questions type voice, I was hardly going to say anything other than no as I did not feel she genuinely wanted to listen. I would have thanked her for her time had she not abruptly ended the call. Im hoping that one day, Ill be able to have a good experience here. Ps nurse Katia was lovely when I saw her. Looking forward to the PM a contacting me to discuss further.

The staff at this practice work very hard its sad to see bad comments. People are too quick to give bad comments and feedback. Since joining the practice as a new patient from the Rowans, and leaving another one in between, the staff here work really hard to make the patients happy. I always get through on the phone and always get an appointment I need with no problem. The reception team are especially kind and helpful.
