A very peaceful garden with amongst other things a rockery garden, Stumpery with cute little Hobbit house, 2 small lakes and plenty of flowers and shrubs for gardeners and nature lovers alike. We visited during the annual tulip festival so the garden was awash with colour. There were plenty of benches to rest and take in the lovely surroundings. There were also notice boards dotted about the garden explaining points of interest. The on-site toilets were simple but clean and the cafe had a varied menu, if a tad expensive. There was a short wait for a table outdoors with a longer wait for an indoors table. The outdoor seating overlooked one of the lakes. There were also picnic tables should you wish to take your own picnic. The cafe had a childrens menu and there was a small childrens play area. Fish food was available to buy at the entrance and had I visited with my 7 year old daughter Im confident she would have enjoyed feeding the fish, exploring all the paths and looking at the plants and flowers. I have removed a star for the inadequate parking facilities. The car park is narrow with bays not clearly marked out. Consequently, cars were not always parked well and as it was busy the car park was quite chaotic. We managed to find a space but only because we have a small car. Many cars were unable to park. Driving through Pocklington on our way home it became clear that there are a few free car parks nearby but there was no information at the gardens to tell you this. Clearly defined bays would be beneficial and either an overflow car park or details of alternative car parks nearby.

Went to admire the tulip display. I'm not a flowery person but I loved all the different colours and varieties shown. The carp ponds are phenomenal. Pleasant and helpful staff, especially in the cafe. They work really hard all day.
