Sadly style over substance in the end. Read to the end. Starts off excellent. Finishes with never again! In August 2022 WW care home was home for my dad for one week for respite while he was over in Pocklington for my wedding. The care, attention, support, attention to detail he and we experienced was excellent. So when we needed 5 weeks respite care in November/December 2022 he asked if he could go back there. Sadly, this was a VERY different experience. Very poor communication, lack of support, lack of care. I had to get involved in Wi-Fi connection, heating and providing a mattress topper! I finally complained when dad had been left for 16 hours clearly harbouring a urine infection, which theyd acknowledged at 8pm on the Saturday evening when I called to say dad was very confused, which was not the case normally. Yet it took them til 2pm the following day to take a urine sample. At 4pm that day they confirmed the urine infection, 20 hours after Id told them he was starting with one. A meeting followed with the Home Manager on the Monday. Things improved somewhat. However, overall it was a very unpleasant experience. Dad left saying he would never go back in there, and as his daughter I will never put him there again, and would not recommend anyone else to either. The final straw was after picking dad up we got home to find the mattress topper we had bought for him as the bed was so uncomfortable had been returned to us urine stained, and no mention of it on departure. Absolutely disgusting! I experienced staff who were quite clearly stressed, and at the meeting with the Manager she said she was trying to get more support and staff. I hope this review helps with that process, for the remaining staff (who I am not blaming for any of the experience we encountered), and for the remaining residents. The place looks good but quite clearly needs more resource so the care, attention and communication matches the look of the place. Style over substance comes to mind.
