Most of us mere mortals baulk at the prospect of tackling the planners when considering building in a sensitive region and I can vouch it takes inordinate time and patience to stay the distance. But if you are seeking help with planning in regions classified as areas of outstanding natural beauty or Green Belt then Conrad Howard is your man. He specialises in designs that blend into the natural countryside with intuitive sensibility and integrity, and has an extensive command of the ways and means of navigating through the often impenetrable layers of Conservation and Environmental planning. Dealing with planning criteria invariably makes one want to tear ones hair out at times, but despite the interminable amendments the effort is well worth it. Conrad is a stalwart ally in this capacity. He is tenacious in his focus, imperturbable, and treats all the planning and expert concerns with consummate attentiveness to detail. I also highly appreciate the way he marries the sometimes contrasting design missions of attaining an innovative contemporary approach whilst paying tribute to a buildings interface with the natural landscape. Ive come to appreciate in my discussions with Conrad what it means to be Earth Conscious. His outlook appears to hark back to the romantic ideals of 18th Century uplinked to interface with a 21stC high technological approach to modern form and materials. His mission as I understand it is to create a space where we effectively exist within the landscape, so there is little distinctive boundary between the space we live in and the nature outside ones door. After years of our built environment becoming ever more urbanistic and defining itself against nature, I feel Conrads approach to architectural attunement with the landscape is definitely where the future in environmental embodiment lies. I have greatly appreciated consulting with Conrad around planning & design solutions. He offers a unique perspective. I can recommend DD Architects for a sensitive contemporary design approach and high planning acumen.
