Have had dinner here quite a few times over more than a decade and been quite satisfied each time. This run of success came to a crashing end on Saturday 15 April 2023 at around 7 o'clock. My order was liver and bacon with vegetables. The liver was completely over-cooked and moving rapidly to becoming a mass of crumbs. The bacon was nicely firm, but completely tasteless. Of the veg, the mashed potato had been left on a plate keeping warm for so long that it was left with a hard, yellow crust and resembled an overcooked German dumpling. The carrots were very thin, clearly out of a tin and had the texture of ...., well I really don't know what. They were just an unpleasant concoction of watery red pulp. The cauliflower did give a passable impression of a decently cooked fresh vegetable, though marred by the separate piece of the core that was several minutes cooking short of al dente. OK, so for a main dish at 8 you do not expect cordon bleu, but this even fell short of value for money, except for someone without a taste bud in their mouth. For future visits to the camp we'll try anywhere and everywhere else, in the hope that in time the L&M can be restored to their former standard.

This is a review of the bar and restaurant. Previously, it was my go to place for lunch when shooting at Bisley. Food had a decent range, portions were sensible at reasonable price and staff were friendly. The bar hasn't changed much. Since covid though the restaurant has gone downhill. My experience during my last couple of visits: Visit 1, a couple of months ago: ordered something vegetarian on the menu, was told after a while it was unavailable. Was asked if I'd want a broccoli pasta bake or something ... I accepted. A very short while later a plate was brought out. It looked like a previously cooked meal had been frozen and reheated in the microwave. Pasta was hard enough that I'd not wanted to risk damaging my teeth. The most recent visit , yesterday, I ordered a tuna baguette quite early on whilst the restaurant was not busy, just before peak time. After my order several people placed orders for more complicated dishes....I watched all those dishes come out of the kitchen and be served. I asked what had happened to my baguette. Initially I was told that due to a sudden influx of orders it was delayed but getting out there (suggests to me they didn't serve food in the order the request came in but in reverse order, which makes no sense). Then they told me there was no baguettes left (so sounds like they served people that ordered after me all the baguettes) I ordered fries instead and asked for a refund. I was then approached with a plate of panini ... Trying to convince me that the panini was a baguette, whilst setting it besides several plates of paninis, I stated that that was not a baguette, it was a panini. The waitress responded with "no, paninis are flatter... A colleague of mine pointed to his plate and said he'd ordered a panini and they looked identical. Normally, I'd have accepted that as a substitute....if asked...but given I wasn't asked and then they tried to convince me it was what I had requested, I turned it away on principle and asked for the fries and refund. About 10 mins later, still no refund. I approached the counter and asked where it was... The lady told me I had to get that at the bar.. my response "surely you need to speak to the bar to authorise it ..I don't think I can just randomly go up and ask for a refund". In the end, I did get my refund, but it seems I would not have done unless I pursued it. I cancelled the order on fries...an item the usually had ready to be served...so a 10 min wait makes no sense...my lunch at this place yesterday consisted of a packet of crisps and a packet of peanuts.
