Always a pleasure to work with The Avon Navigation Trust.

The locks between Perhore and Tewkesbury need some serious attention paddles not closing or lifting properly. Leaking at bottom end making lick filling difficult. Stuck or difficult gates. Took twice as long as it should for each lock.

We have navigated the Avon several times. The Trust has done a remarkable job in restoring and maintaining a waterway that presents numerous challenges, including regular flooding. Like all rivers everywhere mooring is limited to designated areas, so plan to arrive early at some destinations. We were delayed at the beautiful town of Pershore for several days as flood waters subsided. The Trust even sent someone down to check on us and advised us when it was safe to proceed. At Evesham lock, Christopher the Lock Keeper put on a remarkable display of old time boat handling as he legged a massive disabled tug and barge out of the lock so we could proceed. We are most grateful to everything the Trust does to keep the Avon navigable for all.

Beautiful river let down by lack of moorings. Moorings that are damaged and have mooring posts missing. Totally inadequate water/refuse/pumpout points. Lackadaisical attitude to clearing hazardous fallen trees across the river. Still trying to work out exactly what I got for 70 river license!
