Having read the varied good/bad reviews on here, I clearly caught the owner on one of his off days, as others have too. When we visited recently, he was the opposite of helpful; instead boastful, arrogant, a little bit aggressive and so full of himself that it became almost impossible to browse freely. We left quite quickly He did not leave us to browse in peace much, and instead seemed to insist we tell him what we were looking for by repeating 'do you know what you want yet?' a couple of times then acting patronizingly to us when we said we read more non-fiction, political or historical books (including 'I can't sell those books, we're the best book store in Yorkshire and those ones don't make any money' (a simple no, rather than rude condescension would have sufficed). Different readers ask for different things from their experiences. Some like to be left alone and some like to be advised, our habit is to be treated with some distance but we weren't really given much space and didn't feel respected as customers. That said, the store itself has lots of reasonably priced books on a variety of topics so I do recommend a drop in. Let's hope you catch the owner on one of his better days.

What a find!!!!!! Fantastic shop - gentlemen who owns it is amazing. Wealth of knowledge & super helpful. I honestly wish I lived closer - I'd be there everyday!!!

This is a real gem. A great selection of used books at reasonable prices.
