We couldn't have been happier with Barker Stakes Farm. We stayed Friday to Monday and EVERYTHING was perfect. The accommodation was so clean and fresh, had everything we needed and met all of our requirements. We loved the animals and I'm already missing the cats and rabbits. The site is idyllic - the hosts share the site like it is a home from home for all guests and you are free to explore and enjoy. Our teenagers played pool a lot in the games room which was open permanently and there are no complicated rules for enjoying the space or facilities . The price was reasonable and certainly competitive with other properties locally but with the added bonus of the lovely site. We were very happy.

Rooms: Such a lovely lodge, very well equipped and the layout was perfect and so homely. Comfortable bedrooms, ours had 2 x double bed (one with on suite) and a twin room. Open plan kitchen and living room was a great place for the family to come together in the evening and at night to eat and watch the 70" (I think) TV and play games too. A hot tub is always a good addition for our family, we have one at home. Nearby activities: Onsite park and animals but also nice and peaceful so suits all ages. Plenty of places the visit around the area, Pickering, Helmsey, Castle Howard, Whitby to name a few. All the family enjoyed looking round the castles in Pickering and Helmsey. Safety: Our family of 5 includes a 4, 10 and 15 year old. We were based near water but felt perfectly safe on the grounds, in the children's park on site and in the lodge. Walkability: Plenty of places to walk with nice views due to the location. Food & drinks: Self-catering but plenty of options within a 5 mile radius for places to eat and takeaways.
