My mum was in an NHS hospital with a couple weeks left to live. The conditions were horrible. Proper care and comfort was neglected by staff. I couldn't even speak to a doctor or nurse about what was happening. I couldn't understand what was going on. She got to go to the Thorpe Hall hospice eventually when there was a space free. My last memories with her were peaceful, and her room overlooked a beautiful garden. Not only did they look after her, but they looked after all of us too. I'm really glad Thorpe Hall exists. She passed in the evening. The only thing that was bad was that they were pushing me to choose a funeral director in the morning after she passed. I would have appreciated longer, or a pre warning about the short amount of time I'd be given to choose a funeral director.
