Damage to the paint and primer, glass shards left on dashboard, severed wire to the hands-free unit and greasy handprints left on the inside of the window pillar. I arranged and paid for a screen replacement on my friend's (driving instructor) vehicle used for work. Its her pride and joy and the aftermath has left her saddened and me very disappointed. When challenged, the boss claimed: 'They're stone chips.' The car is cleaned by hand once a week and the damage is between the screen edge and bodywork (photographed). A total of 5 new points of damage don't occur in the same vicinity (the perimeter of the windscreen). A prising tool was used to extract the glass and no effort was made to protect the bodywork. Further damage was made to the paint on the nearside pillar. The installer stated: 'It was a pig to get out.' Some consideration for the original condition of the car would have been appreciated. Had the boss invested time to inspect the damage, he would have seen this for himself. The boss added: 'We don't do many of these...we were doing Carl a favour.' As of writing this review, the website includes 'Car Windscreen Replacement' on the list of jobs fulfilled. I paid for the job directly, in full, without any discount (none was expected) to save the time going through the owner's insurance. It is fair and correct to note the boss had her hands-free unit fixed professionally at Halfords. This was completed in good time and now functions correctly. I'm embarrassed writing this review as I've known the installer since he was a boy. The only reason it isn't a 1 star is I've had a replacement rear screen on my truck and that was great. You'll see from my other Google reviews that I always look for the positive (and I have here). It is morally wrong to complete a job with little regard for the property you are working on.
