Hi we live opposite a call for camp fires in the woods adjacent to St Mary Lane, St Mary Park earlier this evening. We witnessed the crew enter the woods while the driver patiently sat in the appliance. Then a little boy came down the street for a walk before bed. His Mum said he was 3. He was so excited to see a dee da with blue flashing lights!! The driver immediately got out of the cab and allowed the little boy to sit in the drivers seat and told him the buttons to press to make the siren go. Unbelievable for the little one. on enquiry the driver said he was called Ben Elley ( spelling may be wrong) but he should be commended and is a true asset to the brigade and admired for his recruitment and PR abilities!! Amazing to know we still have such good human beings in our midst!!
