This place is surprisingly not that well known. However it us a great vantage point overlooking Parbold, Ashurst beacon and surrounding areas. It can be accessed from the carpark at the top of Parbold hill. Just park up and walk down the path as if you were going back down the hill. On your left you will first see the old gates to the quarry. After the gates you will see another pathway. Walk along this path and you will come to the Parbold bottle. There are a few benches to sit and relax, and it is a beautiful place to unwind. I often place bird feeders here during the winter months. Can highly recommend.

Parbold Bottle (or Beacon) is a monument to the Great Reform Act of 1832 which extended the right to vote. King William IV asked Earl Grey to introduce a Reform Bill. The numbers who could vote almost doubled to 650,000 but this was still only 18% of the adult male population. Originally the landmark was more prominent and quite a landmark from the railway. Falling into a ruinous state, the Bottle alone was repaired in the 1950s. The shape is more like an 18th Century port bottle than a modern receptacle.
