I completed the skill stage 3 in hand embroidery and then went on to do skill stage 4. four years in total. I loved both courses. A good range of tasks, support from the team, contact with other students through social media and a recognised qualification at the end. It has made me explore areas I might not have considered otherwise and really extended my design skills as well as my embroidery skills. If youre looking for an online course for some serious but enjoyable textile studying I highly recommend The School of Stitched Textiles.

I have just completed SST Hand Embroidery Skill Stage 3! After finishing Skill Stage 2, I wanted to continue to develop my hand embroidery skills as well as designing pieces and understanding how to create and market a creative business. I've learned so much and it's been fabulous to be able to create finished pieces showcasing all the techniques I have learned, as well as samples. It's been invaluable having the support of the tutors who have guided me through the course and have offered suggestions and advice to help me really unlock my potential. Highly recommended!

This has been an amazing learning experience for me. Both my skills and my creativity have grown beyond all expectations. It was difficult, at times, to fit everything into my already jam-packed day, but with understanding and encouragement from my tutor I got there in the end and it felt so good to look at what I'd achieved. Definitely work every minute. To anyone thinking about undertaking a course with sofst I would wholeheartedly recommend it. I plan to do another one in the not too distant future. Thank you sofst for this great experience x

A lovely experience working for a City and Guilds qualification with the School of Stitched Textiles. I chose to do the Hand Embroidery course. The course notes are clear and concise but be aware there is a lot of your own research to do on the the practice side. The tutors are wonderful and the work is assessed and returned well within the time stipulated. Make sure you set a work calendar and the two years goes very quickly. Would thoroughly recommend this school for remote learning. Thanks to all concerned.

Have just completed SS2 for Hand Embroidery of which I feel extremely proud. Taking on a formal course after a 30 year gap was quite a big decision not only the cost but the time commitment needed. The course was challenging but I felt a great sense of achievement as I moved from module to module learning new skills and just getting creative again. The tutors were really helpful and supportive and made the online learning side easier than I thought it would be. Anybody thinking about doing the course I would say stop thinking and do it.
