Quaint B&B with a comfy room and bed which was spoiled by the owner. Came across as a headteacher forgetting we were paying guests. We were not greeted with smiles or welcomes and even on realising she had made a mistake about how long we were staying with her there was no apology or offer of something to make up for it. Says nothing is too much trouble until you actually ask for something in which case be prepared for resistance or further questions over breakfast.

Denise is not only well-organized, but very quick with a quip - she made us laugh often, and we enjoyed our banter with her very much. Our room was spacious, comfortable and well-appointed. Our breakfast was so delicious, and beautiful, too. We had chats with Denise about local sights, and enjoyed exchanging views on interesting topics, too. She worked hard to find us a taxi for our onward journey, and for a small fee, did some laundry for us, which was a real bonus. In addition, Troy House is very centrally located - we walked from there to the Painswick Rococo Gardens (don't miss it), the famous churchyard of St. Mary's with its 99 yews, the Falcon Inn for drinks and dinner, and The Painswick Center for art and tea. I highly recommend Troy House. We would gladly have stayed more than one night!
