I have completed Levels 2,3 and Level 4 Diploma with Key Counselling Academy and cannot recommend this training facility enough. I found Sian to have a vast reservoir of knowledge and experience that was highly beneficial while learning the many aspects of counselling. The guidance, support and understanding you receive from the all the team at Key Counselling is outstanding! If you are looking for an in-depth course with high quality teaching then you will not be disappointed.

Having just completed the level two foundation course I found it to be very enlightening and has confirmed my wish to continue onwards with level three. The course tutor was fantastic and everyone that was there at the end of the course only had good things to say.

I am going to give this "training centre" mixed reviews which I think given the circumstances is only fair. The first reason for this is that I definitely do not feel that my concerns and those of three other students studying on the level 2 course were properly listened to...which is worrying considering the profession the people we were voicing them to were in...I felt that the tutor at the time was going through a lot of stuff in her own personal life and was very snappy with her students in the second and third lessons. I felt that she was not approachable to discuss why this changing when initially I and others tried. I felt that there was most definitely a divide and rule mentality as well as putting the fear of God into some of the other students there. I then felt that my concerns were made out to be my problem through a clever, narcissistic tactic of attack being the best form of defence. She was also deliberately inappropriate in an unnecessary and very unsubtle legs open posture position with a male student who was in a happy relationship who was left incredibly flushed and rightly embarrassed during key skills. She asked me to fill out a review which as everyone had left she then went over and read it, commented on it in front of another student and as she couldn't take constructive criticism decided to make a rather, very nasty comment. This was a shame as it only made her half heartened apology right at the end of the course less genuine! I also have always been able to show empathy which a previous tutor at your centre congratulated me on. I didn't feel that this time round I got my money back for the course. I appreciate the payment plans but I think given the complaints discount should have applied. (I had tried a previous time at the training centre ,which felt like one then, with a different tutor and loved every second of it. I was unable to finish it due to babysitting family responsibilities and coming down with a weird flu like bug at the end.) I think it could have been handled better with from Sian but eventually I did feel heard. So credit where credit is due. Having sad all of that and I feel better now I have done the course...I do think in some ways the tutor's approach to teaching us listening skills etc...(and there was a lot of etc with her own personal views often thrown in...) through challenging my very liberal, open minded opinions (at the time) however unorthodox her methods were in getting her traditional opinions sent home, they helped me to work through a lot of pain that came up...and there was a lot of it...a) be able to reflect upon the way my actions often stemmed from or were connected to childhood and adult trauma, to break abusive cycles, to heal an eating disorder, to be more resilient and gain courage to deal with frightening physical health issues (which there were many serious hospital appointments to deal with.) to challenge my opinions on how I look at others, (for example: I would never have had an abortion myself, but I wouldn't have previously thought anything of another woman getting one. I think this was a reason why I would have made a good counsellor in the past. ) Now I am pro-life. (Counselling unless Christian etc...probably not the best career option given many women's challenging experiences) As a people pleaser I use to let a lot of people walk all over me and I gave myself no free time. I now have an amazing career that I am on my way to pursuing, exiting course I am more suited to in Nutrition through another learning provider/college. I have made my peace with God and I have a deeper understanding of the person I am, even though that has changed a great deal in the past year. I am better at balancing my finances. I don't take things personally and I am not afraid to express my opinions. I teach others how to treat me and I don't care when people don't have faith in my abilities or doubt the credibility of what I say because I have enough confidence in myself and only care about the opinions of those closest to me as they are what matter.
