After reading up on the best places to eat in torquay. My partner and I booked a table for lunch before our drive home. The food was pretentious. Over priced and awful. My Chicken was dry and greasy. Four new potatoes fried with some burnt bacon pieces was 6! Also my partners baked scallops were cold as was her fish. Several hours later we had Diarrhoea and were throwing up. After reading their sob story of how the Ukraine war and gas prices had affected their business so much they would be closing. I can only wish they had closed sooner.

Food was just okay, not as good as expected for this type of restaurant. Perhaps it is because they were closing down. Better food at other places in Torquay. Service was also slow. We arrived early as requested and then had to wait around 20 minutes for our pre meal drinks to be served. Finally I had to go to the bar and remind them.

We had the most amazing meal on Friday evening at the Brasserie at the Bay. The chef created some very intricate dishes .. full of flavour. We opted for the short tasting menu as our table was booked for 7:30pm we were unable to have the full tasting menu you have to be there by 7pm for the full tasting menu. The short tasting menu was very reasonably priced at 55 with accompanying optional wine flight at just 25 which again was priced very reasonably. We had set our heart on having scallops to start so the kindly added this in as the second course of the tasting menu. Nothing was too much trouble and all the staff were very friendly and accommodating. There are 14 boutique rooms available for overnight stays .. we were shown round a couple of those that were vacant. They are fitted out to a very high standard. There is also one dog friendly room in the basement. Well worth a visit !

We had not been here before but wanted to take friends out for lunch in the area and so put our faith in the reviews. This was not misplaced. We very much enjoyed the Assiettes menu and took advantage of current offer. All the plates we ordered were excellent - hard to pick a favourite but the carpaccio was outstanding and so was the pork belly, crab arancini and roasted cauliflower steak. We were very well looked after by welcoming, friendly and flexible staff. Very happy to strongly recommend and we will definitely be going back.
