This was the holiday from Hell. Having an overseas holiday cancelled three times we decided to holiday in the U.K. We asked our travel agent to find a 10 day break in Devon or Cornwall. Nothing available in Cornwall and only two hotels in Torquay, so we booked 10 days at Braddon Hall. Nothing on the paperwork or verbally stated a check-in time. After travelling 300 miles we arrived at Braddon Hall at 14.50. The Hotel was locked up with no one to greet us. Arriving there we rang the bell with no response . A scrap of paper only with a phone number was on the door. We called the number and we're left to stand outside. He said, that he would be there in 15mins as he was upstairs. When he eventually came he stood there in dirty shirt and shorts. Very aggressively said "So you think you can come in 10 minutes early" I replied that his attitude was unsatisfactory, at which point he said "Well you're not coming in then" and proceeded to close the door in our faces. My wife said " you've got our money" to which he replied "I haven't got your money. Get the money off your travel agent. In our shock with having no accommodation for the night, we went to the Hotel next door ( The Robin Hill Hotel) to see if they could accommodate us. Unfortunately they could only accommodate us for one night but the owner Andrew tried to fix us up at other hotels. This wasn't possible as everyone else could only provide one or two night here or there. As this wasn't satisfactory and us knocking on hotel doors as well we could continue out holiday. As a result we had no option other than return home. I would highly recommend that under no circumstances should you frequent this Hotel?? We didn't actually get inside but from the mess outside I can only imagine that the inside leaves a lot to be desired, in truth, it appeared to be a squat. The drive was full of old furniture and rubbish and what ever you do don't take your car. Only suitable for off road or a tanks. Do not be misled by the photos of the lovely appearance of the owners as these people are no longer there and website hasn't been updated. The current owner clearly needs to attend an extended hospitality training programme and the Hotel needs a major refurbishment. I will be highly recommending the Robin Hill Hotel even though we only stayed the one night, via their website reviews.
