Spent 4 lovely days at this perfectly situated guest house! The couple running it have only been there for a week but you would never know! Service was impeccable, our room was really comfortable and spacious and had a fantastic view. The breakfast was delicious and was served on time everyday, and the relaxed & friendly atmosphere made it a most enjoyable stay. We would definitely come again! Xx

Under new management May 2022 myself and my family stayed at the Rowcroft Lodge located next to the sea front for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms are spacious, airy in the summer, and clean. All the rooms we had were ensuite and had good showers and clean toilets. The rooms were also clean, the beds soft and comfortable, and there are tea and coffee making facilities next to the bed. The breakfast is excellent quality and a reasonable portion as you can see from my photo. They give you just enough of everything in the Full English breakfast, and you can also help yourself to all the yogurt and cereal and toast and marmalade you can handle! For me the breakfast was a great start to the day. The host Sarah had very recently taken over the business in the last six weeks when we visited, and so the lounge was not currently open during our stay but that wasn't a major problem for us as we found plenty to do in the area all day and night, including a trip to Dartmouth which is another beautiful seaside town, and also we tried out lots of top rated restaurants and pubs on our visit. Accessing the B&B is simple with a key to get back in again should the front door close, and a key to your room. If you needed anything topping up or changing just leave it out your door and magically when you get back more rolls of toilet paper or fresh towels will have appeared! There were several other guests staying while we visited and the main interaction with them as you can expect was at breakfast, and we found all the guests were enjoying their time in Paignton especially with the decent weather which was around 22 to 28 degrees with a nice fresh sea breeze. Sarah as the host was professional, efficient, attentive, and friendly. Rowcroft Lodge is within 10 to 20 minutes walking distance from the more upmarket Paignton beach area and there is both a steep hilly ocean path to get there, or a slightly longer flat alternative walking route, or you can drive but we always walked. Right next door there are also two other beautiful beaches with traditional multicolored beach huts, a clean local beach where you can safely swim. We didn't get to visit them all in four days but they all look worthwhile visiting if you stay longer. When we visited it was at the beginning of the July heatwave and the sea water was nice and warm. In the area there is traditional ice cream, a lively bar, a pub for basic bar food and drinks where dogs are welcome, and you will find more choice of places to eat in Paignton. My only negative is being next to the nice clear sea which has a lot of species of fish in it, there are obviously going to be a plenty of seaguls nearby and Sarah told us the locals and trying to reduce them by asking visitors not to feed them, so if you are a light sleeper like me I do recommend having some earplugs. Other people in my group slept absolutely fine but when I used earplugs I slept like a log. The new management had only been in place six weeks so with a start this good I imagine things can only get better.
