Went for Sunday lunch here. Nice traditional style eating pub, in Oxted, with a good menu and ambience. We would happily go back.

The service in the Old Bell is amazing. The staff, Matthew, Jacob, Illiana and Jen are all very helpful, kind and care about your experience, every time. The food is amazing, the chefs clearly take pride in the food they make and the atmosphere is incredible. I would definitely recommend to anyone.

The food and the waitresses were superb we thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant experience. However, I really need to complain about the bar staff. When my fiancee and I arrived and looked at a menu a member of the bar staff preemptively pointed out that where was no way that we could book before 5:30 p.m. ( we had arrived at 3:15 p.m.). After some discussion over what to do we ordered some drinks and some peanuts and went outside. Having walked through an almost empty restaurant some people eating I was confused. I checked online and booked table for 3:45 p.m. When I ordered further drinks I pointed out to the bar to the same member of staff that I had in fact booked a table. 'Oh really, when?', he asked, 'in 10 mins' I said, 'oh I'd be really interested to know where'. 'Outside I said, I talked to the waitress'. Later after drinks we decided to sit inside and really enjoyed the experience. The restaurant was quiet. The restaurant staff were quite easily able to deal with orders. This is not the first time I've had this experience, to although at a completely different restaurant. It seems to me that some staff believe they have the right to refuse custom presumably because they can't be bothered that to actually do the work. They feel ready and able to turn people away for no reason just because they can and they want to reduce their workload. If I owned this pub I would want to know that my staff were doing this. It's so unprofessional. I've travelled around Europe & North America and this is the only country where staff actively try to reduce their work load. It's embarrassing whenever I bring people over to the UK and they have to deal with this wanton lack of service.
