My aunt recently stayed here for respite care following a fractured pelvis. The nurses were kind and the physio very good but the overall management was very poor. It was very difficult to contact nursing staff, arranging xrays was left to us. She was transported home unaccompanied in a taxi and was not sent home with medications or the necessary paperwork and medication list when it arrived was misleading. Visitors were not welcomed outside booked visits and mask wearing remains compulsory. I am from a medical background and have seen many rest homes and would not recommend this one.

Firstly I should declare a bias as a trustee of the St Lukes Hospital registered charity, but I write this having spent three days of rehabilitation there following a hip operation when the hospitals specialist physio expertise played an important part in speeding up recovery. The warmth and professionalism of the nursing staff is exceptional and it gives the clear impression of being a happy environment in which to work. Following the recent addition of another floor and a general refurbishment the facilities are excellent. There is a charming garden and a lovely scenic garden room inside, as well as an activities room. Cooking is excellent with a variety of menus. For either post operative patients or those seeking a longer term home with superb nursing care, St Lukes offers an outstanding choice.
