I had the good fortune to attend classes with the school's Principal, Ms Poppy Shirlaw, who is both an accomplished teacher and an amiable person. I found the classes very productive and relaxing at the same time. Learning with Poppy enabled me to build up enough confidence and skill to attempt the CPE exam - and pass it with flying colours.

I took private lessons to prepare the Trinity ISE III exam (C1 level) with Poppy Shirlaw and I received my qualification last september. I am very grateful of Poppy for her teaching during these months. She was an outstanding teacher who always corrected my mistakes in the best way, she is also very hardworking and makes the most to approach every minute in the lessons. I really enjoyed the lessons with Poppy, the time flew whenever we were marking pieces of writing. Remarkable is the fact that I got Distinction in Speaking and that was thanks to Poppy who helped me a lot to improve my oral skills. I recommend this Academy without any hesitation to anyone who wants to improve his English!

If you're looking for a perfect school of English in Oxford, Kheiron is the best choice! All teachers are very kind, helpful and cheerful. And what about a tuition? This is engaging and entertaing as well as clearly explained. I really enjoyed every single lesson and what's more - I've improved my English extremely in a relatively short time. I can only recommend this school!

I have been learning English at the Kheiron School of English with Mrs. Poppy Shirlaw since October 2019 until today, and since March 2020, have been taking classes remotely (3 times per week via Zoom). I really do not have worthy words to describe how grateful I am to finally have found a very professional tutor like Mrs. Shirlaw. She has been tirelessly assisting me to enhance my academic writing to be more comprehensible and persuasive. Before meeting Mrs. Shirlaw, I was completely unfamiliar with essay and academic writing structure. Previously, I took numerous English classes with various tutors, but it was prodigal and wasteful. Some of these classes were even taken in countries where English language is the native language, however, they were unable to improve my English from a colloquial to an academic level. Learning English language in general is very important to me as I currently intent to apply to do a Masters degree in the field of politics whether in the UK or in the USA. Therefore, having the ability to write essays where I can discuss vital topics and successfully illustrate both sides of any dispute was crucial. Mrs. Shirlaw, from the first class, could easily analyse the way how a student like me can best learn. She was the first one who told me that I am gifted with a photographic memory, and she motivated me to utilize it in my studying. She creatively designed my English course in a way that I can learn effectively using my strengths and potential. She also helped me to improve my critical thinking where I can present my viewpoint and at the same time, I can challenge my opinion in any given essay. She also helped me to prepare for my exams; IELTS, an International English language Testing System and GRE, Graduate Record Examinations, the latter of which is mainly required in the American universities. I have found the online classes just as effective as the in-person classes. Mrs. Shirlaw is always punctual, and she made efficient use of the class time to review my essays and allows me to correct my writing, which I found very effective. I really enjoy the English classes with Mrs. Shirlaw and I highly recommend her for those who want to scale up their English writing.
