This guy should be locked up. He takes your deposit but he is no longer hiring out Motorhomes. Sends a letter telling you to get your your refund back from your bank. Well, some of us cant. Reported him to Action Fraud.

After this post we finally got a response saying that it is a non refundable deposit ,how can anyone expect people to pay a balance when no one answers phone calls or emails when they are asking 1410 from us and we know of other people who have suffered loss from this company when they have paid in full. After no response when requesting the balance things looked very suspicious so we didn't pay, we have requested our deposit back if this is not received we are going to take legal action in the small claims court,i would avoid this company .
Edit number 2 I have seen what looks suspiciously like the same motorhomes that northern leisure were using on another motorhome hire company website with the same correspondence address as northern leisure, although the owners have different names (obviously) I will pass this information on ,looks like a right scam outfit.
Edit number 3 I have reported this today to the police , and action fraud could I ask all who have suffered at this company's hands to file a report with action fraud online to get this resolved.
I have just been out to Otley to see if I could catch them in ,I can tell you now they are no longer there, I was speaking to some lads in a nearby unit who said lots of people have been turning up to try to get their money back and others to pick up motorhomes to find no one there so they are obviously still taking bookings. The unit he rented has been cleared out, he apparently used to turn up in a fancy car , no surprise there with the amount of money he is scamming from people, according to companies house he is still trading . Please report him if you are at a loss. He is obviously taking deposits then when the balance is due and you ring to pay by credit card he doesn't answer the phone or respond to emails so you are in breach of his terms and he keeps the deposit.

Having paid two deposits of 250 to Mike at Northern Leisure back in October for two hires this year we hadn't been able to get hold of Mike to pay the balance due on our April rental via credit card. Hundreds of calls that have gone unanswered and emails not replied to. Then I came across all of these reviews. Thank goodness we haven't been able to pay the balance! This company is committing fraud by taking deposits and balances on bookings he clearly cannot honour. I would suggest that he's hoping he can say that we're in breach of contract by not paying the balance therefore giving him opportunity to keep the deposits. We all need to make reports to Action Fraud as suggested on one of the posts below and also I'd suggest to the insolvency service who can investigate the conduct of company directors.
Update: We received a letter yesterday from Northern Leisure advising that from 1 April all bookings will be cancelled and that the company will cease trading from that date due to illness and financial difficulties. If the company has ceased trading it should be shown as such on Companies House. It is still shown as 'active'. The letter advises us to contact our credit card provider for a refund (which we've already done.) Just thought it may be useful to share this info with others.
