This peaceful church is always open, well, that is occasionally its not so peaceful - because several times a month its full of people for drop-in coffee/soup events which can get over 100 chattering, passing walkers and local people at a sitting in the summer months! We have been told that only on a morning that serves the vicar's reknown, "Bill's Bacon Sandwiches" is it helpful if its known how many people are going to be there in advance, especially for the bacon! All welcome, all ages can find a treat, all offered on donation only basis and the money in the pot at the end of it goes to the charities that are of benefit to the village. Yes - we would recommend you visit this cheerful village - so see the facebook page and pick a date!

Grade 2 listed church dating from around 1190 which has some 10th century carved stones in its porch, including a piece of a Viking hogback gravestone and a 12th Century scalloped capital. Attractive carved arched entrance. It has a mightily impressive framed tableau of the village dated 1991, involving mixed media including tapestry. Lot of work gone into it. A large wooden figure with arms outstretched greets you at the door. There is a loo, and I must say, I have never heard of toilet twinning! The church has a strong community vibe.

Very well run and organised community village church in an excellent part of North Yorkshire. Always something on from Concert and Choirs to Coffee Mornings and Lunches. All in a good cause.
