Realistically, it's not that pretty, but there are plenty of paths to walk or ride on your bike. Lots of wildfowl, and if you get lucky, you might see a kingfisher on the River Rother.

Dog-friendliness: Great place for walking the dog, but it'll probably need a bath after.

We visited Waverley Lakes on a Saturday morning for a walk. Parking is just in front of residents houses, however there's plenty of space so don't feel too bad! The Lakes are probably about two miles to walk around and are pretty flat which is good. Paths are a mixture of stony, grassy and muddy tracks! We also walked up to the moorland to see Orgreave Colliery Memorial which looks decent. Great walk and well worth a visit if you're in the area. Plenty of different birds in/around the water and we even saw a kestrel.
