We booked our 2 year old Cockerpoo in at Nose to Tail in Ombersley for a grooming. We discussed over the phone how it had been 8 weeks or so since his last grooming and he was in desperate need and due to our normal groomers letting us down we needed to find someone new. We explained that he was an excitable dog and would often lie flat or pancake, to which we were told wouldnt be a problem. On the day, we were 8 minutes late due a major road closure near the business premises (the owners house). Unfortunately, the experience was off to a rocky start as we were chastised for being late. We explained that the road closure changed our route drastically and apologised and we were told that, There was sufficient notice the road was closed, you should have been on time. Not a great first impression to be honest, if our dog wasnt already desperate to be groomed we probably would have taken our money elsewhere, but as we live 30 minutes away from the groomer and we were here we thought we would just get it done and try to find a different groomer next time. We drove to a small town locally to kill some time as the dog needed collecting an hour and 45 later. The groomer called us 15 minutes later to say that the dog wouldnt stand still and kept lying down. She alleged it had been longer than 8 weeks since his last groom. (It hasnt, we checked our previous groomers app. As a cockerpoo his hair doesnt shed and it grows quickly) She claimed that as he kept lying down she couldnt groom the dog and he was in a horrible state and needed collecting immediately. This upset the children quite a bit so we rushed to collect Chip. When we picked him up, the owner almost threw the leash at us and quickly ran back inside shouting we should next time take him to a different groomer who have 2 people to work on him. Once we got him back into the car, we could see the extent of the damage. To say he is half shaved doesnt really do it justice. His back is a completely different grade to his sides and there are at least three bits where shes shaved him nearly down to his skin and the rest of him (Face, ears, legs) are left untouched. We cant find another groomer to take him in now for the next month so were going to have to completely shave him. Essentially the takeaway from this review is that whilst this groomer was slightly cheaper than a mainstream brand, the risks dont outweigh the costs and this time we were stung. We didnt pay for this experience, the owner had better sense than to try and charge us, but next time we will use a professional, not a lady with a hobby in her garage. If you care for how your dog looks, avoid like the plague.
