N Smith were appointed by an intermediary to deliver specialist subscription box designs. We designed the artwork and delivered this to them. The courier service was horrendous! With the courier standing on the sample box and also not delivering first time out. Deciding instead just to leave it. Once we finally received the unprinted box sample for approval. Including footprints on the outer delivery box. On the whole, it was an acceptable box, bar one edge, which was not well finished. We mentioned this to the intermediary, who relayed this on, though were happy to approve subject to this being corrected. We received the full pallet of boxes directly from N Smith. Being late, the boxes needed to be perfect. However, instead of being perfect, every edge, of every one of the 200 boxes was faulty. Even worse than the bad edge on the sample box. In addition, the boxes were badly packed and suffered rain damage to 50% of the pallet. You can see the images. The leftmost image shows the sample on the left, with the delivered printed boxes to the right of it. The edges were not finished at all. The entire pallet was like this. In addition, the boxes would not match up, nor were they flush when they were assembled. The intermediary initially claimed that the boxes were "perfect". We asked for a picture and this was clearly not true. Albeit that they were sent a box which was "more perfect" than the entirety of the pallet. You'll note this is not in-transit damage. It is not possible to ADD material to the edges of the printed boxes in transit. It was a great story from the intermediary, in attempting to defend the shoddy service from N Smith, which should be filed on a shelf next to flat-earth and fakes moon landings :-D We weren't born yesterday. It is clear that N Smith are not a professional firm. They have no idea about quality control, nor do they care. Indeed, given the experience was so farcical, it has crossed our staff's minds that this couldn't possibly be accidental. Indeed, given my name was on the pallet, it has been suggested that it is not beyond the bounds of possibility that racism was involved somewhere down the line. The resulting delays cost us our November launch. Worth thousands of pounds. So avoid this firm at all costs. They aren't worth the trouble!
