An excellent afternoon destination. Don't expect high walls and gift shops though. It is a ruin (thanks Mr Cromwell), but it is a marvellous piece of history. It's never too busy, so take a small ball or a frisbee. A flask, a picnic and a blanket. There are information boards with nice little bits of art showing what it probably looked like. Please be responsible though and remember it is a historical site, and if you take a dog the moat is full of nesting water birds. Enjoy this fabulous piece of history. And remember it's mine, it's yours, it's your children's. Love it like I do and you'll have a great day there. 13-10-22, what a wonderful morning to have a little walk around with a mug of tea. This really is a peaceful place.
