I had been wanting to come to this place for years, and finally made it. Often places online are a bit of a disappointment in comparison to the photos, but this really is beautiful. The owner was a lovely woman who designed it herself, and it's such a unique place that you really won't find anywhere else. It's so cosy and perfect for a quiet, romantic break. She was very welcoming with us. It's a bigger place than expected from the photos and a nice middle floor to hang out and read. The hot tub is communal but we didn't encounter another person whilst we were there. This is a one of a kind, hand made space- don't go expecting a boutique hotel and don't go expecting those sorts of amenities. The shower and outdoor bath wasn't always hot, and it's rustic for sure, but if you're going to enjoy time with a partner, those things don't matter. The bed was comfortable and at night you hear squirrels and rain on the corrugated roof which is so calming. We left feeling so relaxed after sleeping well and spending the days out on the Moors or resting at the Bee. It's very well located within walking distance of Okehampton, and the moors close by for walking and horseriding. I'd recommend packing slippers, a dressing gown and an eye mask as it's outdoors and doesn't have curtains, but with those items we were very comfortable. We had such a happy weekend here and I'd love to go back.

What a disappointment this was, cold, damp, leaking windows, smelly duvet, a shower that wouldnt drain - the list goes on. At 150 a night expensive, really poor value for money. We booked for 4 nights but stayed only 2, the next 2 we stayed at a local hotel. It cost less, was warm, clean and breakfast was included. It may have been on George Clarkes program but Ill get he didnt stay there in October.

What a magical place. After a week's stay in such beautifully designed accommodation I am feeling relaxed and restored. Huge thank you to the owners for their thoughtfulness, making sure I had everything I needed. Being in walking distance to Dartmoor National Park and local landmarks like Simonds Park has been a treat. I've enjoyed being able to travel so easily from Okehampton Station and I have loved visits to Lydford Gorge and Meldon Reservoir. This really is the gateway to the moor.
