Egerton Arms, Astbury

We called in here after visiting Castaway Play. The food looked good online and it seemed to have a country pub look and feel to it. Our initial reactions were that the service was awful. Our waitress was unpleasant and never came back to take our order (we had to go and ask to order). They slightly improved but we felt like everything was too much trouble. Oh the flip side, the food and drink were extremely good. We had the pie of the day. Really good portion sizes and it tasted truly home cooked. I tried some of our sons pizza, that was also really good. Dough tasted home made along with the sauce. Overall we would go back. I think the service was a blip. And the food was worth it

Beautiful location and inside is very well presented and clean however the service from the staff was cold, had two servers and one waitress came across quite rude. Ordered a club sandwich, steak sandwich and childrens chicken Goujons. Steak sandwich was too small for 12.50, club sandwich was burnt, childrens meal was ok but batter tasted old when we tried. Shame because the setting is absolutely gorgeous Ive edited to just point out that the venue wasnt busy/full at the time of our visit. Cant reply to the owners reply but we were one of the first through the door.

A pleasure to stay here and easy to recommend. The staff are truly lovely and always cheerful, professional and happy to help. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The food is fantastic and has some real stand out dishes. Certainly better than most similar style pubs/inns. Fair prices given the quality. I look forward to future stays.

We would have gave a 5* but when we arrived the girl on the desk seemed to put us off saying they had two big tables in & that food would be awhile coming out, we said we didn't mind, got our table, the same girl, tall, long blonde hair came & tried to say again that they are sorting two big tables out & food would be awhile. It was as if she didn't want us to order food, we glad we order because it was at our table within 15mins & lovely food, shame about the waitresses attitude, wonder how many people she put off.
