I haven't been to the Barley Mow for years but it was a really nice surprise when we did recently. We were there for Friday lunch and it was great, our waitress Hannah was very friendly and attentive, the food was good value and super tasty and loads to choose from. We need to support these village pubs.

Very disappointed. We heard new management had taken over, saw the roasts were a reasonable price and thought we would have my Dads birthday meal here. The roast looks a good size, but the beef was a slab of very tough and fatty meat. Not even a steak knife offered, so he got some exercise tearing that apart! The veg was soggy and no crisp roast potatoes. The chicken was on the bone and tasteless. The duo choice of beef and chicken had the smallest piece of chicken. Tiny stuffing ball and no cranberry or redcurrant jelly. The pie is the same price and I have never seem such a small pie! Chunky chips were oven chips and rock hard peas. :-o the pie pastry was rock hard and so dense. Hardly any filling at all. At least the little meat I did have, was well cooked. Smallest cauliflower cheese side too. Strange taste to it and hard cauliflower. Award winning sticky toffee pudding was dry. All in all, we will have to re-do Dads special meal, as that doesnt cut it.

Very poor service today (if I could give it zero stars I would!). Managed to serve us tea and coffee but after almost an hour our food order (for two people) hadnt arrived. No communication of any issue. When we asked we were told a chef hadnt turned up - so why not say something?! Bar snack orders still seemed to be happening but not ours. We gave up and left! I wont be back.
