I recently went on the "Moving Into Management" training course at Pure HR. Having never had any management training before, I felt like I'd always 'winged in' with the small amount of management that I'd done before. I'm making some key changes with my business where I know I'm going to have at least 1 or 2 new members of staff this year, and I felt it was time to up my game with my management knowledge. You don't know what you don't know. The course is a great primer if you've not been a manager before. I found the course particularly helpful, as it highlighted the areas that I was completely missing in my management knowledge. I'm particularly weak around formal processes, obviously something essential for being a manager! I was also surprised that I knew more than I realised, giving me the benefit of more confidence in myself. As a 1 day course with a lot of ground to cover, we couldn't go into lots of depth for obvious reasons. As an introduction to management, I felt this was ideal. I wanted to cover lots of ground to get me up to speed quickly. It's been far too long since I've done an in-person training course, I'm sick of doing all my training online. Being in a room with others and having discussions and questions is where I often learn more. Online training is draining (even for interesting topics) and I enjoyed learning around other people again by being in a real physical room. If you have little knowledge of managing people, but you're about to be a team lead or manager, I highly recommend this course.
