Monday 14th Feb 2022. I didnt know this branch was at Morrisons in Bulwell, so it ought to be very convenient, except I will never go back there again. Total indifference to customers, was closed for a few minutes when I got there at 3.15 pm. Went back half an hour later and he was just reopening. Asked him to cut a Yale type key and a 5 lever mortise key. Cut the Yale key incredibly fast, then rooted about amongst the blanks for ages before chucking the original back on the counter and announcing that he couldnt cut that one. I asked why and he replied not got the blank. I had noticed lots of car key blanks and had intended to ask about a replacement Toyota key and also about the dry cleaning service advertised, but decided against it due to his demeanour. I paid and then had to ask him for my new key. Sadly, I did not look at the key before I left. I then went to Tesco in Hucknall where I knew there was another Timpson branch. The experience was the complete opposite, smiling and welcoming, she did have the correct blank. She offered me the option of two keys for a reduced price and explained the procedure should I have a problem with the key. She was able to answer all of my other queries and I left there feeling quite satisfied, good service. At home, I tried the new keys, the Hucknall one fitted perfectly and operated smoothly. The Bulwell one wouldnt even fit in the lock, it was very roughly cut with burrs and sharp edges all over it. I took it straight back and asked if I could have a key that fitted, once again I met with indifference. Why, whats wrong with it? No apparent concern or apology, he took slightly longer to cut another key, chucked it on the counter again, and said see how you get on with that one. This key actually fitted in the lock, but it would not turn, unbelievable! I returned to Timpsons again, knowing that the advertised closing time was 6.00pm, I arrived at 5.54pm according to my phone, just in time to see him set the alarm, turn out the lights and lock the door. At least he had a key that worked! As I needed the replacement keys for the following morning, I set about the key myself with a small file, I was able to make it work after a fashion. Operable, but not acceptable and I wont be able to return it for a refund now.
