When I moved out, I cleaned the flat so it was spotless. Cleaned the oven so it looked practically new (as god as it could be after 2 years of use). Re-painted the flat. Whoever was moving in after me could have moved in the day I moved out without having to do anything.
Liv DifRent told me that the people who inspect the properties are independent people, and don't work for them. The obnoxious, scruffy man who came to do the inspection actually told me that he DID work for Liv Difrent. He was at the property over 2 hours doing the inspection. It was a one bedroom flat. I swear, if he could have climbed in the oven, he would. At one point he was hanging backwards over the balcony looking at the brickwork outside the balcony doors. It's a shame he didn't fall over it. It's clear that they are told to find fault with everything.
This is what they charged for:
Clean 100
Remove tile and make good 160 (I'd had tiling up on by a professional, behind the sink to avoid water damage to the wall)
Repaint throughout with Crown white emulsion 500
Fridge Drawers 120
Shower hose 20
Total 900
This was to be taken from a deposit of 575!
This is a tactic to frighten people from challenging the charges with DPS. People think that if they appeal, they will loose and have to pay the additional amount, so they cut their losses and walk away.
I did challenge it. Although I didn't get my full deposit back, the DPS stated that the charges for the shower hose and fridge drawers were extortionate, and charged a total of 15, and also would not allow the 500 charge for re-decorating.
I would advise anyone not to rent of these people. They trade under a number of names, such as SDL Properties. The staff are rude and lie at every opportunity. They are no more than criminals, and will think nothing of stealing your money.
