As a bridge it gets you from one side of the canal to the other almost unthinkingly ! On a more serious note there is lots of nearby parking, and it's a good place to start a walk either northbound to Langley Mill Basin or South towards Ilkeston, Sandiacre and Long Eaton. No amenities here. It really is just a bridge.

A great entry point to many walks depending on which direction you wish to go. This bridge passes over the Erewash Canal that has a footpath/cycle trail, North to Langley Mill Basin.. and South through Ilkeston, Trowell, Sandiacre, Long Eaton to Trent Lock Sawley, where the trail meets the River Trent. More locally there is the Bennerley Viaduct which gained World Monument Status in 2019, can be accessed from the footpath, this " Iron Giant " spans the Erewash Valley and the Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire borders, once on top the views are wonderful for both walkers and cyclists. Here there are photographic opportunities at sunrise and sunset. Enjoy this areas walking and cycling facilities.
