I was unfortunate enough to have SSE as my provider in Nottingham. I had them for a few months and paid money in excess as I didnt have access to the meter readings. Once I did I was told I was 106 in excess but that can be returned when bill is finalized once I move, as I was planning to. A month before leaving, on SSEs insistence a smart meter was installed in the flat and I was told all readings will go to them automatically. So on leaving the home, I didnt take a reading. I called SSE to final the bill and was told that I need to provide a reading. It took me another 3 months to get hold of my agents to get me the reading. I called SSE again and stayed on the line for over 2.5 hours (yes) only to be told that SSE didnt have a smart meter installation record?? I emailed the pictures of the old and new meter readings and I was put on hold for so long and then redirected to the main line. Customer service pretty much said they cant do much and I should just speak to the final bills department. I was transferred to them again, put on hold again and transferred back to the mainline yet again. If you have SSE I would just say clear your bills every month, dont give them ANY extra money or youll be crying for months. Ridiculous service.
