As long as you like the American grill type of food, you will be happy here. Good selection of tasty food, good selection of drinks at the bar and good service. The great atmosphere adds up to a good meal out. Update April 2023: visited again, this time for lunch. Again good food and service. Good time for families as well at lunch time.

A regular customer here (at one point, I was here weekly with my son and family). Lovely staff, lovely food, some staff have taken the time to know me by face and Im happy to add extra on top of their tips over the festive period. All round a great time when we attend until yesterday! Arrived for an early dinner at 4pm with my mum, grandma, young son and younger brother. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and service. Paid the bill and headed out to the play area at the rear of the restaurant for the children to play. 2 older girls were on the playground amongst the other children, who began to single out my son and brother, shouting at them, demanding them around and throwing popcorn in their faces as they left the bottom of the slide. A calm conversation was had with her, her mother and myself and my mother and it was agreed that she should tell an adult about her concerns and not deal with them herself. Problem solved right? Wrong!!! Moments later, the girl returned with her father, who began to stir up this issue again. He was calmly told that the issue had been dealt with, so we were confused as to why he was now back looking for trouble?! At this point, one of the hickorys team was stood at the side of him, watching/listening to the situation. Suddenly, the father of this girl became extremely aggressive, hurling abuse and threats at the top of his lungs to me in front of everyone outside, including my young child who at this point was petrified and in floods of tears at the sight of a fully grown man, physically charging at us with his chest pumped out, screaming profanities and threatening physical harm as we were calmly walking away from him, to the point that he was physically pushing my grandma with his chest to get to me, and also had some form of object in his hands that he was swinging at me. He continued to follow us and hurl abuse, even after we had re-entered the restaurant to leave and keep our children safe. Not one single staff member in sight, not one single member of staff attempted to intervene, or even call the police. This unhinged, untamed animal was presenting as a physical threat to 3 small women and 2 small children and we were left to fend for ourselves, meanwhile, he was allowed to re-enter the restaurant and continue on with his meal. This is unacceptable. What was once a great time for our family, has now turned into an anxiety fuelled meal out, with the children afraid to return incase that man hurts us. In my opinion, this animal should be banned from the restaurant after exhibiting these behaviours, and the staff should have intervened in some way shape or form, even if this meant contacting the police to deal with the matter. But nothing happened. Its a huge shame for us, as we love this place and we love the staff, but until this situation is handled appropriately, we will not be returning and allowing our children to be bullied and scared, nor accepting being bullied and threatened by a violent aggressor.
