About 6 weeks after that, I bumped into Chelle - I told her about my experience, and she suggested that I go train with her. And boy, am I glad I did!
I was out of condition having not done any real exercise for about 20 years (other than the aborted attempt at crossfit, mentioned above) and had already decided to change my diet, but Chelle worked with me to start training, and to sort out a diet plan in a more focussed way.
4 years later I regularly exercise. My weight has dropped a bit, but more importantly I have shifted fat and put on a bit of muscle (not too much - just enough). More muscle automatically burns more calories so a bit of snowball effect kicks in. My goals were not so much to loose weight but to build strength, get a bit of shape and have stamina - a good level of fitness.
'Chelle sorted out a programme, where I went to her well-equipped studio and worked on various areas of body (upper body, lower body, back and core) for strength and shape, also doing CV work for the general fitness. Some sessions blended - others more focused. Chelle also does progressions over 4 week groups of sessions so you can see your strength etc. improving. Periodical check-ins for weight (if needed) and body measurements show measurable progress (as well as picking up bigger dumbells or heavier weights on bar / kettlebells). Well, all that and a general feeling of well-being and being more alert, active, happier. It's nice also that people started saying "You've lost weight "or "You are looking good". Which is always nice to hear!
Chelle is very experienced and one of the best qualified trainer in the area. She is always VERY focused on you in sessions: demonstrating very clearly, watching your form as you do the exercise, adjusting and amending as required. Full focus on you during the time you are with her. Also changing things up so different things are tried, making things more interesting.
With the covid situation, we were for a time not able to do studio work. But Chelle was able to put together a plan on her online option. I am lucky to have some equipment at home and after a chat I was able to put all that to good use, with Chelle following up and being available through the app where the odd questions arose (and encouraging when feedback on the session sent to her!). But even if I had no equipment, Chelle would have been able to put together home online sessions for me using bodyweight etc.
As of this week (as I write this), the studio has been opened up again. So I have transitioned to a blended plan: 2 sessions online / at home and 1 sessions a week with 'Chelle. It is a brilliant, fab-value compromise... well that is the wrong word, solution really... so can get focused one-to-one time, use equipment in the studio, but also the convenience of doing work at home using the excellent online app that is used to plan, conduct and record the sessions at home.
I really can't recommend 'Chelle enough. Knowledge, focus, expertise, all done extremely professionally but with a smile and a laugh (very often!).
