I have been trying to use this shop rather than using the local co-op despite in doing so, costing myself more money to support a local business. I will definitely now not be using the store anymore. Open at 7am, but not opening the lotto machine to exchange small winning tickets until 8am, there are no signs that you have to wait until 8am to use the lottery machine to get your winning tickets to spend in the store. This however is not the first rule in the shop that gets barked at you when you reach the till. Earlier this week, I was buying a few products and a scratchcard on my card and got made to feel like I am a parasite for yet another rule that isn't advertised ANYWHERE in the store other than being barked at you when you reach the till. I have been as polite as anyone possibly could be, even apologising for the card transaction put through that included one scratchcard with goods in the shop at a higher value. As I left the store this morning, the till assistant was giving me a filthy look as I walked past the window of the store because I wasn't able to continue to get the shopping I went in for without being able to exchange my winning lotto ticket for 10, so I will make sure that I never use the shop again. The same till assistant also barks at children in the most unnecessary manner and doesn't seem to be remotely aware that his rotten attitude will only continue to lose him customers, teamed with the rules that you only find out by word of mouth at the till is also extremely off-putting. Also the way they talk to people they know over the top of you who are talking about having been arrested because they know them whilst being grumpy with the person they are serving is plain rude. I am entirely certain that I will not be spending extra money to support a local business and will instead go to the co-op which is the same distance from me and save myself money and being spoken to like dirt whilst practising good etiquette toward them despite their disparaging attitude. I'm glad I turned back to look at the shop assistant I believe is the manager to find him giving me a filthy look as I most certainly won't waste my manners on a shop with a bunch of unwritten rules and contempt for the youngsters who use the store and sustain it with their purchases of the rubbish junk food and drink that are bought mainly by the younger audience. Turning on the lottery machine should be done before the opening of the shop or simply move the opening hours forward if they are not willing to give the services that are advertised both in and outside the store. Your loss buster.
